Valérie offers online counselling and psychotherapy services to young adults and adults in French and English. She uses a collaborative approach to help individuals who experience anxiety, depression, prolonged chronic stress, and interpersonal, workplace, and academic issues. She also possesses experience offering skills-based interventions to students and professionals who struggle with attention issues and executive functioning deficits. Professional Experience

Valérie has over 7 years of counselling experience in the community. She has supported women who experienced intimate partner violence, newcomers, individuals living on a low income, persons with disabilities, and youth. She has facilitated women’s support groups as well as men’s counselling groups.

Education and Qualifications

Valérie is registered as a qualifying member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She is completing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University and she also holds a Master of Science in Sociology (MSc.) from the University of Amsterdam. She has published ethnographic research on the experiences of undocumented migrant youth, which she has presented internationally. In addition to her counselling work, she works in the field of advocacy to end gender-based violence in Canada.

Therapeutic Approaches

Valérie uses a client-centered and humanistic approach. She firmly believes in the capacity of each person to grow and change and she endeavours to establish a collaborative, warm, and authentic therapeutic relationship. Having lived in many countries and worked alongside diverse populations, Valérie is aware of and sensitive to issues of diversity and social justice and works from a place of cultural humility. She is trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Valérie offre des services de psychothérapie aux adultes et jeunes francophones.  Valérie est psychothérapeute autorisée (stagiaire), membre de l’Ordre des psychothérapeutes autorisés de l’Ontario (OPAO). Elle a 7 ans d’expérience en counselling dans un milieu communautaire, auprès de femmes qui ont vécu de la violence par un partenaire intime. Elle a aussi mené des groupes de soutien, et fait de l’intervention auprès des hommes, des nouveaux-arrivants, des personnes vivant avec un faible revenu et/ou avec un handicap.

Valérie termine sa maîtrise en psychologie du counselling à l’Université Yorkville et détient une maîtrise en sociologie de l’Université d’Amsterdam. Valérie a une approche collaborative, chaleureuse et authentique tout en étant sensible aux enjeux de la diversité et de la justice sociale. Valérie est formée en thérapie d’acceptation et d’engagement (ACT), ainsi qu’en entrevue motivationnelle (MI).

Fees

Session fee: $100 per hour for online psychotherapy, coaching and counselling (the final minutes of each session are reserved for documentation and preparation).
