Counselling for Academic Related Stress
We understand the difficulties associated with academic stress because we are a group of psychotherapists who work with post-secondary students at Carleton University and at Algonquin College in Ottawa.
While college and university life is an exciting time for young and mature adults, transitioning to the first year can also be a stress provoking experience. You may be experiencing stress, anxiety, or depression due to increased academic demands, or difficulty with school-work-life balance. You may be trying to keep up with social expectations and pressures, uncertainty, and/or having a hard time with time management, planning of academic work, procrastination, and/or questioning your career choice.
Learning to manage new demands and responsibilities is not an easy task. Counselling and coaching can help you ease into the college and university transition. We provide evidence based (Cognitive Behavioural and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) support to our clients. We can help you develop both coping and academic strategies!
