Zsuzsanna Grandpierre, M.A.Ed, RP, Registered Psychotherapist, ADHD Coach, Mindfulness Teacher and Professional Development Instructor
I am an independent Registered Psychotherapist, ADHD specialist and coach, mindfulness instructor, and clinical supervisor, who previously held positions at Algonquin College in the Centre for Accessible Learning, and at Carleton University at the Paul Menton Centre. I specialize in treating adults (30+) with ADHD, peri/menopause-related attention, memory or mood changes, anxiety and mood disorders, and provide support to individuals, couples, and parents affected by these challenges.
My therapeutic success is the result of my unique approach that incorporates psychoeducation and psychotherapeutic interventions, coaching strategies and mindfulness and self-compassion training into treatment plans that meet the individual needs of my clients.
Counsellor & Psychotherapist
I provide individual counselling and psychotherapy, group therapy and mindfulness-based workshops to my clients. My therapeutic expertise includes the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders (depression), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), parenting distress, menopause-related distress, stress and burnout, procrastination & lack of goal achievement, low self-esteem, shame, and self-sabotaging behaviours.
To help my clients discover new ways of coping with difficult emotions and circumstances, and to relate to themselves in a kinder, more encouraging and accepting manner, I use proven Third Wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approaches, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion-Focused Therapy. I also facilitate a variety of Mindfulness-Based workshops for the treatment of stress, depression, ADHD and difficulties with parenting.
ADHD Coach
As an ADHD Specialist, I help my clients overcome self-defeating patterns, learn new strategies to manage their symptoms and place great focus on developing compassion-based self-discipline and self-talk. The focus of the session is often on goal setting and overcoming procrastination.
Professional Development Instructor
I am an avid supporter of furthering the practice of mindfulness in my professional community. As part of the Mindfulness Ottawa Professional Community, I dedicate some of my time to organizing and teaching professional development workshops to other healthcare providers. These workshops provide information about the practice and benefits of mindfulness practice and present opportunities to learn self-care, increase resilience and prevent burnout, and incorporate coaching strategies into therapeutic interventions.
Speaking Engagements
As part of my professional services, I provide guest lectures on mindfulness-related topics to students at the University of Ottawa and at Algonquin College, and mindfulness workshops to professors, support and administrative staff in post-secondary institutions.
Education
My education consists of an MA in Educational Counselling from the University of Ottawa, and a Solution Focused Coaching Certificate from Erickson International. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). In addition, I am also a certified yoga and mindfulness instructor.

Research Area
My research interest is in the benefits of mindfulness. I have completed a research study with Dr. Diana Koszycki on the benefits of a six-week-long mindfulness program on executive and academic functioning. The Mindfulness for Academic Success (MAS) program was adapted from MBSR and MBCT for students who are experiencing academic difficulties in post-secondary education. This research indicated that completion of the MAS program improved students’ executive and academic functioning and reduced their symptoms of ADHD and negative emotions.
I also conducted research with Dr. John Zelenski on the benefits of practicing mindfulness while walking in nature. Spending time in nature can boost connectedness to nature, which is associated with environmentally friendly behaviours, improving attention and vitality, and eliciting positive emotions. The practice of mindfulness has increased the potential for these benefits.
