Kristen Brooker (She/Her), Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Kristen specializes in client-centered counselling services, with a focus on supporting individuals to navigate challenges such as anxiety, life transitions, chronic stress, burnout, lack of motivation, poor concentration/attention, and parenting stress. Using an approach grounded in empathy, respect, and inclusivity, Kristen recognizes the importance of creating a safe space where clients feel heard and valued. She is committed to providing meaningful guidance and fostering lasting positive change through prioritizing each client’s unique needs and perspective.
Education/Experience
Kristen has over 10 years of experience working in community and therapeutic programming. She holds a Post-Degree Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation from Georgian College, where she received the Barrie Civitan Award for excellence in fieldwork, and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Victoria. She is currently completing a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.
For the past eight years, Kristen has worked as an outreach coordinator at the Ottawa Humane Society, where she developed and led experiential programs designed to support emotional well-being, resilience, and empowerment among diverse clientele. She spearheaded the development and delivery of initiatives specifically tailored to support neurodivergent youth and individuals affected by trauma. Through collaborative initiatives with community organizations like Youth Services Bureau, Ottawa Technical Secondary School, Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre, and Shepherds of Good Hope, she created therapeutic, animal-assisted programs that fostered healing and personal growth—skills she now brings into her work in psychotherapy. Kristen’s commitment to creating accessible, compassionate spaces for personal growth has defined her work and continues to guide her practice.

Kristen’s approach to counselling is empathetic, client-centered, and trauma-informed. She draws on evidence-based therapeutic modalities in her work to support clients to develop resilience, self-compassion, and a stronger sense of connection. These modalities include:

Fees
Session fee: $110 per hour for virtual counselling, coaching and psychotherapy (the final minutes of each session are reserved for documentation and preparation).
