Her role is to provide support and guidance, ensuring that clients feel validated and equipped to navigate their personal journeys.

Education/Experience

Brooklyn is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, where she is expanding her expertise to better support individuals through their mental health journeys. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Religious Studies, with her research focusing on religion and diversity in Canada. This academic background has provided her with a deep understanding of the complex interplay between cultural and religious factors in shaping individual experiences.

With five years of experience working in disability issues, Brooklyn has developed a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. She is a dedicated ally to the disability community, with a strong commitment to accessibility and inclusivity. Brooklyn is devoted to ensuring that diverse needs are acknowledged and addressed with empathy and respect.

In addition to her work in disability issues, Brooklyn has a robust history of involvement in various support roles. She facilitated a course in Victimology for two years at Algonquin College, focusing on the complexities of victimization. Her volunteer work includes two years with Kids Help Phone (KHP), where she supported children and youth in crisis, and three years at the Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre, where she assisted women who have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault.

Brooklyn has also been involved in restorative justice, facilitating victim/offender reconciliation through the Collaborative Justice Program (CJP) at the Ottawa Courthouse and working with Circles of Support and Accountability (CoSA) to support the community reintegration of individuals convicted of crimes. These roles have further shaped her approach to psychotherapy, emphasizing healing and justice for both individuals and communities.
