We encourage you to read the following general information about ADHD and to book an appointment.
What is ADHD Coaching?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) coaching is a specialized style of coaching. It is tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals with ADHD. ADHD is marked by difficulties with inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and sometimes by anxiety, depression or anger issues. People with ADHD are often challenged by poor time management, lack of attention, impulsive decision-making, or forgetfulness. Their biggest obstacle in overcoming these challenges are their difficulty with following through commitments, succumbing to “can’t do this” attitudes, and failing to separate symptoms of ADHD from personal shortcomings and not learning the strategies that can help them manage ADHD symptoms.
ADHD coaching will help you recognize, accept, and work with your own strengths and limitations. Sessions are designed to facilitate the development of skills and strategies that promote effective life management with ADHD. Your ADHD coach will focus on empowering fostering your independence and self-confidence. To do this, the coach will help you to develop strategic planning, build resilience and self-acceptance, embrace failure as part of the process and develop patience. The coach will also provide attention training, skills and strategies and give you constructive feedback in a safe environment. Successful outcomes are achieved by frequent communication, monitoring progress, and by providing encouragement, motivation, and accountability for completion.
Because most people with ADHD experience other mental health related difficulties, such as anxiety, depression, OCD etc it is in your best interest to get ADHD coaching from a registered psychotherapist, who can also provide you with therapeutic treatment interventions for these disorders.
ACT on ADHD protocol
ADHD coaching is a whole-life approach that focuses on the client in the context of all areas of life. These include: personal, professional or academic life, health, and subjective well-being. While ADHD coaching is based on the principles of life coaching, it places more importance on accountability, relies on more specific inquiry, and focuses more on building skills and strategies. While sessions are focused on generating solutions, dealing with comorbid disorders will be also included in your ADHD treatment protocol. Accordingly, we may combine coach approaches, such as Solution Focused Coaching or Immunity to Change protocol with therapeutic interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to elicit the progress you require.
Benefits of ADHD coaching:
- Identify areas of difficulty and develop successful coping strategies,
- Maximize productivity, increase efficiency with organization, time management, and prioritization,
- Create and maintain a medication journal,
- Develop techniques to sustain focus, attention, and concentration,
- Gain independence, learn self-advocacy skills, and increase self-confidence and self-esteem,

What to Expect from ADHD Coaching
You will be meeting on a weekly basis and e-mail check-ins between sessions are encouraged. In the first session, the overall contract is set for the coaching relationship. The contract reflects the goal that you want to accomplish through ADHD coaching and is broken down into smaller contracts (goals) for each session. Your coach will help you maintain focus on your goal and provide you with accountability for your progress. However, if your ADHD is challenged by other mental health disorders, sessions will be also dedicated to reduce these effects on your wellbeing and improve your coping strategies.
